Frequently Asked Questions

All You Need to Know

  • Yes, we gladly accept new patients.
  • Advocare participates with most major insurance plans. As participation varies by region, specialty, and physician, we recommend that you contact either our office or your insurance company representative to verify that your insurance plan is accepted.
  • We gladly schedule prenatal visits to discuss our practice philosophy as well as meet our physicians and staff.  Please call our office and we will schedule an appointment that works with your schedule.
  • We like to see babies in our office about two days from their discharge date.
  • We strongly support breastfeeding and will do all that we can to help nursing mothers. Breastfeeding helps defend children against infections and protects against a number of chronic conditions. While we believe that breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants, we recognize that breastfeeding may not work for all women and babies. We will discuss feeding concerns and infant formula choices if breastfeeding is not an option.
  • We are open every day of the week, including holidays. Please refer to the  Appointments  tab on our website for specific hours.
  • Our staff is available to answer your questions 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.  Please refer to the  After Hours  tab or call our main number at (856) 988-7899  for instructions.
  • You may always request the physician of your choice for well child visits and follow up visits.  Same day sick appointments may be made with whichever provider available.
  • We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics immunization schedule, which you can find here. We are happy to discuss your child's immunizations at each visit so that you comfortable with the shots your child will receive.
  • After the inital newborn visit, we see babies at 1 month, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months.  The visits then space out to every 3 months until the child is 18 months.  The child should be seen at 6 month increments until 3 years old, and then yearly.  Please see our  Well Visits  link.
  • If your insurance requires referrals, please call our office at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment.  Most referrals are done electronically and will be submitted directly to the specialist's office.  Because referrals require physician approval, it is important to give us at least 48 hours notice.
  • We will contact you as soon as we have the test results. For non-urgent tests, this is usually within 2-3 business days.  Even if the labwork is normal, we still contact you.  If for some reason, you have not heard from us after 3 days, please call our office.
  • Please call our office and speak with our staff.  Allow 24 hours for most prescription refills, although any that may require insurance prior authorization can take up to 5 days, depending on the insurance company.  Please note that controlled substances (such as ADHD medications) can only be picked up in the office.
  • Most experts agree that infants should start solid foods between 4 months and 6 months of age.  Please discuss this further with your provider.
